CARS PART 2

So I was asked to make another "Cars" cake for a little guy named Samuel. It is a lot like the other one...with some small differences. But I guess that's what's nice about cake...they are all a LITTLE different.

So there it is...I hope he had a great 3rd birthday:)

Holy Rusted Metal Batman!

This cake and cupcakes were made for our good friend Avery. He was having a batman themed birthday. We decided to make a small cake and cupcakes so there would be more than enough for everyone.
I originally thought I would just make small yellow cupcakes and put the black bats on them. But as I started making them, it just didn't seem very, well, fun. So I thought it might be better to make the old school comic book action words instead. It turned out bright and fun, which is just what I was going for.

I made the buildings around the side, and painted them with luster dust first, then with black food coloring to make them more comic book looking.

The top of the cake...still looking for a little bat mobile for the road on the cake. Couldn't find one...bummer.

Ants Marching

One of the cakes I made this week was for donation at a school fair. Because we didn't know who would end up with it, it was decided to make it unisex. So here is the picnic blanket with all the little marching ants.
The average view of my table while I am working on stuff.

It was actually a very easy cake to make. Just step by step putting it together.

I really liked the little ant hill...and that led to putting the ants around the side of the cake as if they are underground.

The eggs are made of fondant with icing on the top and a dash of luster dust to look like paprika. The watermelon is a piece of chocolate cake that I covered and painted. Overall I was very happy with the way it turned out.
